Ingredients
  • 2 Kg Poha (medium grains size)
  • 20-25 Curry Leaves(kadi Patta)
  • ¼ tbsp Mustard Seeds
  • ¼ tbsp Fennel Seeds (Moti Saunf)
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ tbsp Hing
  • ¼ tbsp Red Chilli Powder
  • ¼ tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • ¼ tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • 500 gm Peanuts
  • 250 gm Roasted Chana dal (without skin)
  • 2 Chopped Onions
  • 4-5 Slit Green Chillies
  • Chopped Coriander Leaves
  • Refined Oil for cooking
Recipe Steps
  1. Before dry roasting the poha, keep poha in sunlight for two hours.
  2. Heat a kadhai. After two hours dry roast this poha in kadhai and continuously stir it with spatula so that it doesn’t get burned. After roasting, the color of the poha remains the same but it gets more crisp, fluffy than before. Keep this poha aside in a plate and cool it at room temperature.
  3. In the same kadhai add 5-6 tbsp oil in it and fry the peanuts first and keep it aside in a plate.
  4. Now shallow fry roasted chana dal in the same oil till small brown patches form on chana dal and keep it aside.
  5. Now fry the Chopped Onions in the oil till it becomes crisp light golden brown in color and keep that aside in a plate.
  6. Fry and toss slit green chilies, chopped coriander leaves, curry leaves in the same oil and keep it aside.
  7. Now in the same oil add hing and all the dry spices powder like ,mustard seeds,saunf,Jeera ,turmeric powder, Red chili powder and salt.
  8. Mix all ingredients together.
  9. As soon as these spices are cooked in oil, immediately add roasted poha, fried peanuts, fried onions, fried chana dal, fried green chillies, fried curry leaves, fried coriander leaves in it.
  10. Mix well.
  11. Continuously stir it so that this namkeen chivda doesn’t get burned from the bottom of Kadhai and keep it aside in a big plate and allow it to cool at room temperature.
  12. Now store this namkeen chivda in an airtight container and enjoy it with tea as an evening time snack.
