Chana Dal Bafauri is a healthy snack made using chana dal, onions, green chilies and very few spices. It is a healthy steamed snack prepared with very little oil .It is one of the Zero oil recipes. This is a very healthy option for people with high cholesterol and people who want to lose weight.

This is a very simple and easy to make recipe which requires very less readily available ingredients.

In this Recipe Soaked chana dal is ground into the paste and flavoured with green chillies, fine chopped Onions,Chopped coriander leaves and then steamed. Since it is not fried, it is the best option for having a healthy tea time snack.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup Chana Dal
  • 1fine chopped Onion
  • 1 Roughly chopped onion
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • Chopped Green chillies
  • 4-5 clove Garlic
  • ¼ tbsp Red Chilli powder
  • ¼ tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • ¼ tbsp Coriander Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • oil for cooking
Recipe Steps
  1. Soaked Chana dal for 7-8 hours in water. Then Grind the chana dal into fine paste in a mixer.
  2. Add fine chopped onion, Fine chopped green chillies, chopped Coriander leaves, Jeera, Salt, Turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder into a chana dal paste. Mix Well.
  3. Heat 2 tsp Oil in big Base Kadhai and rotate the kadhai in a circular way so that oil spread easily across corners of kadhai.
  4. Now make small pakoras in full kadhai till the corners of the kadhai and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Now sprinkle some water on these pakoras and cover the lid of the kadhai and cook this for 5 minutes on Low Flame.
  6. After 5 minutes Turn off the gas and don’t open the lid of kadhai for another 2 -3 minutes.
  7. Now open the lid of the kadhai and pakoras start coming out from the base of the kadhai very easily.Keep these pakoras aside on the plate.
  8. Prepare the fine paste of roughly chopped onion and garlic in mixer.
  9. Heat the other pan and add 2 tbsp oil in it. Add Onion GarlicPaste in kadhai and cook this for 5-6 minutes until the color of onion turns golden pink.
  10. Now add Turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, salt into the masala and cook this masala very well.
  11. Now add these pakoras in the above prepared masala and mix well so that all the pakoras get coated with masala. Chana dal bafauri is ready.
  12. Garnish this chana dal bafauri with chopped coriander leaves and slice of lemon.
  13. Serve hot with spicy green chutney and chai.
